
Dr Desmond Ong was born in Nambour and attended school on the Sunshine Coast. Des graduated as a Dentist (BDSc) with First Class Honours from the University of Queensland in 2000. Des successfully completed a Masters degree in Orthodontics (MDSc) at the University of Queensland in 2005 and also completed examinations to become a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh in the Discipline of Orthodontics - MOrth RCS (Ed). Des is also a member of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in the Special Field of Orthodontics - MRACDS (Ortho).
Des is currently a Clinical Academic at the University of Queensland (School of Dentistry) where he is involved in the training of dentists and orthodontists. He has numerous clinical publications in the field of orthodontics and is regularly invited to present his lectures and research at continuing education events throughout Australia.
Des loves all types of sport, especially Rugby League, and he is an avid supporter of the Brisbane Broncos, at least whenever they are not playing the Cowboys! He also is a huge fan of the Hawthorn Hawks and Manchester United.
Des enjoys spending time with his wife Amanda and their two daughters Alisha and Nikita.
